“We report the magnetotransport properties of self-assembled Co@CoO nanoparticle arrays at temperatures below 100 K. Resistance shows thermally activated behavior that can be fitted by the general expression of R proportional to exp(T(0)/T)(nu). Efros-Shklovskii variable range hopping (nu=1/2) and simple activation (hard gap, nu=1) dominate the high and low temperature region, respectively, check details with

a strongly temperature-dependent transition regime in between. A giant positive magnetoresistance (MR) of >1400% is observed at 10 K, which decreases with increasing temperature. The positive MR and most of its features can be explained by the Zeeman splitting of the localized states that suppresses the spin dependent hopping

paths in the presence of on-site Coulomb repulsion.”
“Purpose of review

Antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) is acknowledged and defined in kidney transplantation, but where do we stand as far as pancreas transplantation is concerned? Here we appraise the most recent findings in pancreatic AMR and give suggestions for future research in the field by addressing currently unresolved issues.

Recent findings

Five main topics are discussed: chronological assessment of all literature on biopsy-proven BI 2536 pancreatic AMR; role of C4d and recent development in other markers; the use of sentinel organs, such as kidney biopsies and duodenal patch biopsies for diagnosis of pancreatic AMR; studies addressing islet pathology and its relevance in AMR; and protocol and follow-up pancreas biopsy practice in relation to pancreas transplant management and survival.

“Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an important viral disease of sheep and goats. The wildlife hosts of PPR, which may play an important role in the epidemiology of this disease, are not well characterized. The research was undertaken to study the infection of PPR virus (PPRV) in free-living bharals (Pseudois nayaur) in Tibet, China. In 2007, PPRV infection was confirmed in two bharals in Rutog County of Tibet based on clinical signs and detection of PPRV RNA in tissue samples. In 2008, PPRV infection was found in one bharal in Ge’gyai County of Tibet by competitive ELISA, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and sequence analysis of PPRV fusion protein (F) and nucleoprotein (N) gene segments.
