To help address some of these gaps, a five-year multi-country research project called ACTwatch was launched. The project is designed to provide a comprehensive picture of

the anti-malarial market to inform national and international anti-malarial drug policy decision-making.

Methods: The project is being conducted in seven malaria-endemic countries: Benin, Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia from 2008 to 2012. ACTwatch measures which anti-malarials are available, where they are available and at what price and who they are used by. These indicators are measured

was to use a conceptual model to examine the structure of self-rated health with persons with spinal cord injuries.

A US sample of 270 adults with mobility impairment stemming from spinal cord injury (SCI) provided data on three measures of self-reported health that differ in degree of subjectivity: physical problems common to SCI, four domains of health status from the SF-36, and a single item on self-rated health. Data were compared with the norm sample of the SF-36. The conceptual model was tested using path analyses.

The proposed modelling is based on both generalized linear models (GLM) and generalized additive mixed models (GAMM). The modelling is fully Bayesian and inference is carried out by Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques.

Results: The results obtained from the proposed models are discussed and it is found that malaria incidence in a given month in Burundi is strongly positively associated with the minimum temperature of the previous month.

Method To understand whether the same p53 and NTF4 pathway mechanism is involved in a beagle model of glaucoma, we have isolated NTF4 gene from dog and analyzed both p53 and NTF4 genes for mutations in glaucomatous animals. Results Our analyses failed to identify any disease-causing mutations in both genes with the exception of two polymorphisms in NTF4 gene. However, these are not pathogenic changes because they are also present in normal animals and are not segregated with the disease. Conclusion These results suggest that impaired neurotrophin signaling or compromised trophic support to the retina and p53-mediated apoptosis may not be the underlying mechanism of RGCs death in a beagle model of glaucoma.
